On March 5, 1987, at 3:30 AM, chaos erupted at Mumbai's Agripada Police Station. Eight men demanded the key to the lock-up where notorious gangster Babu Reshim was held. After the constable refused, they threw bombs and fired bullets, killing Reshim despite his pleas. Babu Reshim, part of the infamous BRA Gang alongside Arun Gawli and Rama Naik, had a feared presence in Mumbai. Initially a canteen worker, Reshim turned to crime after losing his job, becoming deeply involved in gang activities and union strikes. His power grew, but so did his enemies. Reshim was ultimately killed by Vijay Utekar, a former associate, in a dramatic police encounter.
