Join us as we delve into the lesser-known yet extraordinary life of Batukeshwar Dutt, a forgotten hero of India's freedom struggle. While Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev are celebrated nationwide, Dutt, who stood alongside them, remains in the shadows. Born on November 18, 1910, in Bardhaman, Bengal, Dutt's patriotic fervor ignited early, further fueled by witnessing British brutality and the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. In 1924, Dutt met Bhagat Singh at PPN College, Kanpur, and their friendship blossomed. Together, they joined the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA), working tirelessly against British rule. Dutt's expertise in bomb-making led him and Singh to hurl bombs in the Delhi Assembly on April 8, 1929, an act meant to symbolize defiance without causing harm. Arrested and imprisoned, Dutt endured the harsh conditions of the Andaman Cellular Jail. Post-independence, he faced neglect and poverty, forced to sell cigarettes and work as a tour guide in Patna. Despite his sacrifices, Dutt received scant recognition, reflecting the nation's failure to honor all its heroes equally. In his final years, Dutt battled illness, struggling to find medical care. He passed away on July 20, 1965, his last wish fulfilled—to rest beside Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru at Hussainiwala. This video sheds light on Dutt's poignant story, urging us to remember and respect every freedom fighter who contributed to India's independence.
