Under Ashoka, it promoted Dhamma, Buddhism, administration, and welfare policies that left a long-lasting legacy across Asia. On the other hand, the Roman Empire (27 BCE – 476 CE in the West, 1453 CE in the East) controlled Europe, parts of Africa, and the Middle East. Known for its law, engineering, military discipline, roads, and architecture, Rome became the symbol of Western civilization.
