The Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem is considered the third holiest site in Islam, after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid an-Nabawi in Medina. Known in Arabic as Al-Masjid al-Aqsa, meaning “the farthest mosque”, it holds immense spiritual, religious, and historical significance for Muslims across the world. According to Islamic tradition, it was from this very site that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was taken on the miraculous Isra and Mi’raj (Night Journey) to the heavens. This sacred connection makes Al Aqsa not only a symbol of faith but also a powerful reminder of unity in Islam. The mosque has witnessed centuries of history—Umayyads, Abbasids, Fatimids, Ayyubids, Mamluks, Ottomans, and later British rule. Every dynasty contributed to its architecture, expansion, and preservation. Despite wars and destruction, the mosque still stands as a testimony to Islamic resilience and devotion. Today, the Al Aqsa compound (Haram al-Sharif) includes not only the mosque itself but also the Dome of the Rock, making it one of the most visited and contested holy sites in the world. It continues to be at the heart of the Palestine-Israel conflict, symbolizing not just religion but also identity, heritage, and struggle. In this video, we explore the history, significance, and present-day relevance of Al Aqsa Mosque, understanding why it remains such a vital part of Muslim faith and global geopolitics. #alaqsamosque #islamichistory #jerusalem #masjidalaqsa #islam
